When I shared my Apple Crisp For One I told you I would have at least one more single serving dessert, & here it is! Like, who doesn’t love chocolate? When you need a small chocolate fix, this is the perfect dessert for one! A simple microwaveable chocolate cake with melted chocolate chips as frosting. You can also eat this one with a scoop of ice cream, which is how I prefer it! Yum! And I am not saying these are healthy desserts by any means, just makes enough for one (or two if you really are worried about calories.) Shove chocolate chips in the center for a more gooey, molten type cake. Have fun with it!
Single Serving Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp cocoa
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp canola oil
- 2 Tbsp chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder & salt in a microwaveable dish.
- Add milk, canola oil, & 1 Tbsp chocolate chips. Whisk with a fork until smooth.
- Microwave on high for 45 seconds to 1 minute.
- Immediately top with remaining 1 Tbsp of chocolate chips. Allow chocolate to melt & spread with a spoon over the top of the cake (like frosting.) Serve warm with ice cream, if desired.

Yum! I love single serving desserts and this chocolate cake looks so so good!
Seriously, I think you are going to make me put on all of the weight I lost! This looks so good!
I love this! Most of the time a full dessert is just asking for trouble around here!
I don’t realize that I want chocolate cake until I need it and don’t want to wait. This is a perfect solution! Thanks 🙂
Seriously – the single serving concept is totally brill. If it’s around I will eat it. My will power most often is lacking. I’m a HUGE fan of Chili’s Molten Lava Cake so like you said with chocolate chips in the center it would indeed be divine.

Oh My!! How delicious this looks? so yummy too! Sometimes I just need a little sweet and this would be perfect! Pinned for later 🙂
Can plain yogurt be substituted for the milk?
I don’t see why not. Let me know if it works!
I am totally making this delicious chocolate cake!
I love it
It’s the perfect dessert for an intimate dinner – to share this portion of cake

This could be very dangerous–and delicious!
It wasn’t that good. I think the recipes with the egg come out better.
I haven’t tried the egg kind yet, but will have to soon. This one can get dry if your microwave has high wattage. Less time is better to keep it moist & delicious. Thanks for your honest input though. 🙂
Very gummy and chewy- did not like it at all.
Microwave baking is definitely tricky business. Sorry it wasn’t your favorite.
Love this recipe. Good and moist and so easy. I changed the topping a little. I heated a tablespoon of cream on the microwave for 30 seconds and then mixed the second tablespoon of chocolate chips in and poured it over the cake. Just an added twist to a great quick recipe.
Sounds like you made Chocolate ganache, which is so good! Glad you enjoyed this recipe!
