Wow! It’s almost the end of 2014 already! As one year ends and a new one begins, I wanted to share the recipe for this fun and sparkly New Year’s Party Loaf.

A fun fact about ring shaped baked goods is that they represent good luck because it represents the never-ending circle of life.

Ring shaped baked goods also represent wholeness and the completion of a full year’s cycle. Fun food for though, yeah?

One thing that I think of when it comes to New Year’s Eve is all the large, elaborate, sparkly decorated parties! I mean fireworks, music, kissing… the whole she-bang! So it’s fun to match your food to the fun of the night, which is why we’re going all out with sparkles for this appetizer!

  • 1 Rhodes White Bread Loaf for the ring.
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

Allow your loaf to thaw and slightly rise at room temperature, enough to work with.

Then roll the loaf into a 20-22-inch rope. Form into a circle, pinch the ends, and place in the bottom of a sprayed bundt pan or on a silicone lined baking sheet. Cover with lightly greased plastic wrap and let rise until double in size.

Remove wrap and bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.

If you baked the loaf on a baking sheet instead of a bundt pan, you may need to carve out a hole in the center to make it look more like a ring.

Allow the loaf to cool, and then make cuts lengthwise and widthwise, about 1-inch apart, without cutting through the bottom crust.

Combine softened butter and powdered sugar well. Stir in honey and vanilla. Spread the honey butter between all the cuts. You may not use all the honey butter, and that’s okay; save it for later. Wrap loaf in foil and place on baking sheet. Warm in 350°F oven for 15-20 minutes.

Combine powdered sugar and milk to make glaze and then smear half of the glaze on the warmed bread. Immediately sprinkle with the silver and gold pearlized sugar sprinkles before the glaze dries. Serve with the other half of the glaze in a bowl in the center as an optional dipping sauce.
