Oreo Lover’s Treat

Oreos are “milk’s favorite cookie,” but I’m pretty sure they’re everyone’s favorite (packaged) cookie — and for good reason. That cookies and cream combo just can’t be beat.

I love to add Oreos to desserts like my Cookies and Cream Cupcakes, Oreo Cinnamon Rolls, Cookies and Cream Cookies, or my Oreo Cheesecake Bars. So why not add them to rice crispy treats?

Why You’ll Love this Recipe

This isn’t your typical marshmallow treat. These Oreo Rice Krispie Treats:

  • Have extra butter and marshmallows — making them super soft and gooey!
  • Are topped with a white chocolate drizzle and extra chopped Oreos — for show-stopping looks and taste.

I think I am beginning to believe that rice krispie treats taste even better with chocolate melted on top. This may seem like extra work, but it’s really quite simple. I’ll show you how.

How to Make Oreo Rice Krispie Treats

First, roughly chop the Oreos needed for the treats and topping. Keep separate and set aside. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan with cooking spray. Set aside.

  3. Remove from heat and immediately pour over the cereal mixture.
  4. Stir until evenly coated.

  • Empty the Oreo Rice Krispies into the prepared pan and spread into an even layer.
  • OPTIONAL: Use wax paper and a mini rolling pin, or your hands, to flatten the top. (NOTE: Remove wax paper immediately after flattening or it may stick to the treats.)

White Chocolate Drizzle and Oreo Topping

To make these Oreo Rice Krispie Treats even better we’re going to add a white chocolate drizzle and extra chunks of Oreo cookies.

White chocolate chips and oil melted to drizzling consistency.
  • Place the white chocolate chips and oil (optional, for thinning the chocolate) in a heat-safe bowl.
  • Microwave at half power in 20 second increments, stirring in-between each interval, until fully melted and smooth.

  • Place the melted white chocolate into a sandwich bag and cut off the corner. Drizzle the chocolate over the top of the rice krispie treats.
  • Immediately sprinkle with the chopped Oreos (for the topping) to help them stick to the chocolate while it’s still soft.

Serving and Storage

Allow the chocolate to set before cutting into squares and serving. You can speed this up by throwing the pan in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Cover any leftovers in the pan with foil or plastic wrap. Alternately store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

These Oreo Rice Krispie Treats come together pretty quickly, so if you are in a hurry, these are perfect treat. Plus, who can resist those chunks of marshmallows and Oreo cookies?

Tips for Success

  • Melt the butter and marshmallows low and slow. High heat is one of the reasons why you might end up with hard rice krispie treats.
  • In addition, don’t smash the rice krispie mixture into the pan too much or they will become firm instead of soft. Press them just enough that they won’t fall apart after being cut.
  • If you don’t like chunks of marshmallows in your treats, just melt them with the rest of the marshmallows.
